Are You Young, Ambitious, and Beautiful?

Earlier this year I had the pleasure to become a venture partner with Lauren Bealore, co-founder of Young Ambitious and Beautiful. YAB which is a women's organization created by college educated women thriving to be the best in every aspect of life with a strong focus on entrepreneurial skill, networking, and overall career advancement. More about them can be found here. Together, I was able to create and design a custom body butter that fitted each of the 3 founders’ personality based on their nick names where in return they were able to sell those products and donate the proceeds to charity! Through that connection I collaborated with the AIDS Walk Detroit. There, I designed a box filled with my products there were auctioned off at charity.

What’s so amazing is that I get to use my business for more than just selling products. I get use my power as a business to ensure that I am empowering the community though efforts like donating, volunteering, and mentoring. My belief is that as a business we have a moral obligation to support each other and the community that we live and do business in. My dream is that through these efforts I am able to reach another person to inspire then to do the same. And as my business becomes bigger, I will have a further reach to empower an inspire people all over the world!

Shea It Aint So????

A lot of people wonder why I chose to use shea butter as a base for my body butters. Personally I love the way it feels, there is no other part of the earth that does my hair skin and nails like shea butter. It heals as well as moisturizes and because shea butter alone can tend to be a little hard, I used extra oils like organic coconut oil, cocoa butter, apricot oil, safflower oil, almond oil, organic jojoba oil, and vitamin e oil to whip up an make a soft application.

Shea butter is used as a base for medicinal ointments and has been claimed to have anti-inflammatory properties. It has been claimed internationally to be an effective treatment for the following conditions:

• Heals blemishes and keeps wrinkles at bay
• Excellent skin moisturizer
• Reduces itchiness caused due to excessive dryness of the skin
• Cures minor burns and tough skin on feet
• Evens out skin tone
• Offers sun and wind protection
• Restores elasticity to the skin
• Restores lost hair luster
• Eliminates scalp irritation caused due to chemical processing

As you see, shea butter has more powers that just moistening, it has a great deal of medicinal uses as well!

1 year Anniversary......Yay We Did it!

As the owner, just 365 Days ago, The Natural Market was a figment of my imagination. I could have never thought that I would actually have keys to a flagship boutique that I could call my own. I can still remember having that paper torn off of my window from construction as I was finally opened for business. I can still remember writing my first hand written thank you card to my first customer and I think to myself how blessed I am to share this gift that I have with all of you. There are no words to describe how thankful I am each and every time someone walks away happy with their purchase and the courtesy that people show when they decide to share their experience with others.

Every day I am thankful for the struggle and the stress that emanates with owning your own business and if I had to do It all over again I would not change anything . As the days go by, I realize more than ever how connected each and every one of us really are and exactly how my commitment to customer satisfaction and giving back to our community really does make a change for the better in our world.

My goals for The Natural Market are to build and expand by providing positive an example to people that the journey of a thousand mile begins with one step. The things that you dream are not farfetched. Trust in yourself, stay determined, disciplined and committed and in no time the things that you desire will come into fruition. Also as in the words of the late John Nash, “It is better to have been, then not to have been, then to have been nothing at all." What truly is logic? Who decides reason? It is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logic or reason can be found. The best for the group comes when everyone in the group does what's best for himself AND the group.” With that being said, take what you love and try your best to make it work for you and remember as a member of the human race our world works best when we do what positively is best for ourselves and the world we live in.

Love,
Victoria
